Johan Müller Lützens von Barzeha. The Crown Prince's surname was the same as the name of the Empire itself. His name was as heavy as it was glorious, and as long as it was noble.
He had awakened as an S-Class Transcendent at the tender age of four. The young prince, who had been showered with the love of the people for his extraordinary beauty, suffered through the fever of awakening and gained a monstrous ability.
"Our Crown Prince has awakened as a Transcendent!"
"Surely there is no Divine Beast as beautiful as this!"
"Divine Beast," that was what people called Transcendents. But in reality, the "Beast" was not the Transcendent himself, but the ability he possessed. That snake-like monster parasitized his body, feeding on Johan's life force as nutrients to discharge electricity.
Like a Basilisk.
To say a Transcendent used their ability was technically incorrect. Rather, it was the ability that used them.
This Basilisk would use him to its heart's content, and the moment it felt he was no longer useful, it would gladly tear his body apart and trigger a mana collapse. That was how a cruel god handled his beasts.
But what on earth was happening now? That hideous little monster, which had always reigned over him despite being a mere parasite, was suddenly submitting to Johan as if it were a docile lamb.
What is going on?
He lifted his heavy eyelids. Through his hazy vision, he saw a woman pouring liquid into his mouth.
I don't hate this, but...
The beast had little interest in the liquid entering his mouth. Rather, it seemed to like it far more whenever the woman's fingertips brushed against his lips. Just the slightest accidental touch. It was laughable to feel the beast purring with satisfaction over something so trivial.
The Crown Prince knew the identity of the woman in his vision.
Lady Albrecht.
...and the only Purifier of this generation.
A Transcendent loves a Purifier. For a Transcendent, that sentence was a categorical imperative.
How excited had young Johan been on the day he heard the news of this woman's first awakening?
Before he had even met her, he had sworn his loyalty, vowing to dedicate his life to those three syllables: Odette.
Just as in fairy tales, in scriptures, and in the history of humanity. He would become the Purifier's sword, her shield, and anything else she needed with all his might.
However, she was a woman who easily shattered that blind devotion, for which he would have gladly given his life.
[Odette] "I have no intention of doing any purification. Whether a Transcendent dies or not, what does that have to do with me?"
[Johan] "Lady Odette, I understand your pain and confusion. You didn't choose this awakening. But for the sake of the people—"
[Odette] "No, I don't want to! I can't do this anymore. Father! Please take me home!"
Instead of enchanting, her scent was a chillingly unpleasant rose fragrance. An artificial smell that seemed designed to repulse a Transcendent. The immature and selfish attitude that followed only made it worse. If she hadn't been a Purifier, it would have been difficult for him to suppress his murderous intent.
At the funerals of soldiers and citizens innocently sacrificed in disasters, she wore a tiara and a lace dress as if she were the main character.
During the Empress' birthday banquet, she wore a dress redder than the one permitted only to the Empress, parading it ostentatiously. Moreover, she dared to bill the Imperial Palace for that dress.
The amount drained just for her extravagant adornments accounted for 5% of the Empire's tax revenue. On top of that, there were the reports of her evil deeds that he received from Zion.
He had tried to believe that, as a soldier, he needed to discipline himself strictly enough. But there was a limit to turning a blind eye. Johan was disappointed in the name Odette, then fell into despair, and finally gave up. She was a human being so terrible and detestable that she was beyond redemption.
But how is a woman like that... emitting a scent like this?
His sense of smell, heightened to the extreme by the impending collapse, caught a subtle fragrance flowing beneath the repulsive rose scent. A sweet, comforting scent. The very faint, gentle aroma of peach blossoms. A scent that seemed capable of melting away any hatred, malice, disappointment, or contempt in an instant.
It was an alluring scent. A scent that made it impossible for any beast who smelled it to hate this woman, no matter what evil deeds she had committed. A demonic fragrance that made firm beliefs and unwavering chivalry crumble laughably.
Gulp, gulp.
The Crown Prince swallowed all the black liquid entering his mouth. It wasn't that he liked the liquid, but the ability within him—the Basilisk—wouldn't let him spit out what this woman had given him.
[Odette] "I knew it wouldn't be enough."
He felt his ability scoff at the woman's muttering. This black liquid and medicine could delay the collapse a little, but this amount would only buy him a few more hours.
[Odette] "Should I give him what's on my hands?"
At those words, Johan's heart plummeted. Soon, a pale white finger, tipped with black liquid, entered his mouth. Oh, gods. He could feel the beast inside him rampaging with joy.
[Johan] "Ah..."
He groaned low in his throat. He always suffered from hypersensitivity and pain. This richness, which made his whole body feel so languid, was a first in his entire life.
Johan felt his breathing become slow and comfortable. The most perfect and sensual salvation lay at the tip of this woman's finger.
As expected, eight flowers aren't enough for an S-Class?
Since the amount was insufficient, he seemed willing to lick the amplifier off her hands, but still... letting the Crown Prince lick her finger was...
Later, won't he behead me for lèse-majesté, claiming I put something filthy into his precious mouth?
The Crown Prince had the gentlest nature among the four male leads, but the Divine Beasts were fundamentally temperamental.
After debating for a while, Odette finally touched her index finger to the tip of his tongue.
If it's Johan, he wouldn't do that.
Among the male leads, he was the most merciful and sensible one.
And his condition is too critical to be nitpicking about hygiene.
Besides, after giving him the Night Glory, his wounds had noticeably begun to heal.
Seeing how desperately Johan licked her fingertips, it seemed he had genuinely been in a lot of pain.
If Night Glory was blooming there, the water must be first-grade clean water. If circumstances force me, I'll insist I washed my hands.
The large wounds closed, the bleeding stopped, and the broken bones reset. Only then did the Crown Prince breathe easily. With the situation under control, his features finally caught her eye.
This game was famous for its beautiful illustrations. And he's set up as the most handsome man in the Empire.
As expected of a reverse harem game, particular effort had been put into the male leads' faces.
Since he's such a classic beauty, there definitely won't be any mixed opinions about his looks.
The brilliant colors of his blonde hair and blue eyes made his beautiful face stand out even more. A handsome man with the most noble face, fitting the keyword of an upright knight. His sweat-drenched face looked like a masterpiece painted by a great artist.
Charlotte. When he was with that lovely heroine, they matched perfectly.
Odette carefully placed her hand on his forehead.
He still has a slight fever.
In fact, his temperature seemed to rise every time she touched him. It seemed he had an infection somewhere.
S-Class Transcendents aren't supposed to get sick. I guess even they catch colds when a collapse is imminent.
Fundamentally, this would only be resolved when Charlotte arrived. Until then, the only option was to be careful so he wouldn't be in pain.
I need to get him out of this cold garden quickly and into a room.
She looked at the sky, which was slowly showing signs of brightening. Dawn would break soon. Looking at the fallen Crown Prince, she murmured briefly.
[Odette] "When the day comes that you want to take my head, be sure to remember today."
[Johan] "..."
[Odette] "Never forget that Your Highness owes me a debt."
She turned to leave the garden. But she couldn't. Just as she reached the entrance of the garden, a man suddenly landed in front of her with a heavy thud.
You startled me...!
A neat suit. A cigar in his mouth. A man looking down at her with an arrogant posture, both hands in his pockets. It was Zion.
[Zion] "You certainly left quite a passionate message requesting a secret meeting with me, Albrecht."
Opening with a topic as abrupt as his entrance, he continued with an annoyed expression.
[Zion] "If you promise to finish this as quickly as possible, I will grant your request for a rendezvous."
It was a tone that flaunted the fact that he was the rudest of the male leads.
