KFBRV Ch 136

Haha...

She laughed hollowly and looked up at the ceiling.

Really, every single thing was tiresome. Giving only 10 minutes for the quest time, yet the Loathing penalty was a whopping 40.

Considering Charlotte would arrive as soon as she failed, multiplied by 61 times. Wasn't this just pushing her to die by Karl's hand?

And it has to be Karl's penalty of all things. If it were the Loathing of other Transcendent bastards, they wouldn't harm me even if just for purification.

On the other hand, if Karl felt murderous intent, her safety couldn't be guaranteed. Even with the restriction of the Imprint, he could put her in a near-death state.

Driven to the extreme, she ground her teeth inwardly.

According to her original plan, it was an item to be used in front of the Count three days later, but it seemed she had to exercise some flexibility. Because she couldn't afford such leisure now.

Inventory. Show me that item.

At her call, the status window showed a single item stored in the inventory.

[Customizable Corpse]

It seemed she had no choice but to execute it right now. Her "faked death" plan.

Originally, Odette planned to call the Count to this Meursault villa and fake her death right before his eyes.

[Charlotte is heading to the Meursault area.]

Because the status window had been continuously notifying her that Charlotte was also coming to this villa.

She intended to die in front of the Count, matching the timing of Charlotte's appearance. To deceive those two completely.

So that the Count, having lost his cash cow as a Purifier, could set his eyes on Charlotte, who happened to appear before him.

Because the ultimate revenge against the Count would be possible only if those two joined hands.

For that plan, during the week traveling to Meursault Beach, Odette had been customizing the corpse to look exactly like herself.

Blonde hair and teal eyes. The arrangement and shape of facial features. Height and body type. Even the small details of the body. Perfectly identical.

But since it has come to this, I suppose I have no choice but to die for you all.

Deceiving three Transcendents would be much trickier than deceiving the Count.

Even though the plan could be ruined if she made a mistake, she somehow found herself smiling.

Comically, she quite liked the changed direction.

I really hated these guys this much.

To the extent that she felt this good about the fact that an opportunity had come to smack the back of their heads.

A room where only the sound of rain echoed. Odette slowly raised her body, which still had some haziness remaining.

Until she staggered over and leaned against the solid wood desk placed in front of the balcony window, none of the male leads opened their mouths.

[Johan] "Odette."

The one who broke the silence was Johan. He pulled the collar of his shirt and spoke in a deeply hoarse voice.

[Johan] "Odette. I was wrong. But... worrying about you is sincere. I genuinely care for you."

She turned her back to the curtained balcony and faced him.

To make her back a blind spot invisible to their eyes. Because she didn't want them to see her using the inventory to summon a gun.

Hiding her right hand behind her waist, she called the status window in her mind.

Put the gun loaded with silver bullets into my hand—.

But it was that moment.

[Viktor] "Darling. Stop."

Viktor moved behind her back in an instant and grabbed her arm.

[Johan] "König! Take your hands off Odette right now. How dare you grab a lady's arm in such a—"

[Viktor] "Your Highness. Trust my intuition. I have a bad feeling. Our darling is about to commit a bad deed. With this cute hand."

Viktor, holding both of her wrists with one hand as if binding them, pulled those hands straight up above her head.

That damned bastard's intuition.

A terrifyingly sharp bastard.

[Odette] "Karl!"

She called Karl, who should be waiting outside. Then, with a bang, the door opened as if he had been waiting.

[Odette] "Hold Viktor down! Never let him come near me."

At her command, Karl immediately grabbed Viktor and threw him against the opposite wall.

It happened so instantaneously that by the time her eyes caught up, Karl, who had already moved to the opposite wall, was bending Viktor's arm backward.

[Viktor] "You crazy bastard, won't you let go right now?!"

Karl was pre-awakening, but in terms of martial prowess, he was almost equal to Viktor.

[Johan] "König. You need to calm down first."

Moreover, due to the aggressive attitude Viktor had just shown her, even Johan was pressing down on Viktor's shoulder to subdue him.

The only way to overturn that situation was to unleash his flame ability. But no matter how crazy he was, he wouldn't use fire abilities indoors where a Purifier was present.

In her eyes, rubbing her throbbing wrists, Karl's bleeding palm came into view. As if proving he had been clenching his fist tightly, traces of fingernails dug in a crescent shape.

[Odette] "No matter what happens inside, never enter and wait here."

He must have been waiting quite desperately until the next command fell.

It was an obedient appearance unimaginable from the old Karl who used to disobey her orders at the drop of a hat. She felt the changes over time anew... but what use was all that?

A slave with such loyalty will want to kill me in 10 minutes.

However, there was no time to wallow in bitterness.

[Viktor] "Let go. Because Odette is doing something!"

[Karl] "Shut up. Whatever my Master is doing has nothing to do with you."

[Viktor] "Damn it. Odette is planning something dangerous to herself!"

He's practically a ghost.

Unlike Karl, who didn't even pretend to listen to his words, Zion and Johan, who knew Viktor's sharpness, turned their gazes to her.

[Zion & Johan] "...!"

Then they made surprised expressions.

Inventory. Put the gun in my hand.

Because they discovered that Odette, having already summoned the gun, taking advantage of the commotion, was aiming the muzzle precisely at Zion's face.

[Zion & Johan] "Ha..."

But they were soon relieved. Even the person the gun was aimed at smiled brightly. As if genuinely happy.

[Zion] "Shoot. You can shoot multiple times. As long as shooting me relieves your mood."

[Odette] "......"

[Zion] "Regeneration should be slow. I'm worried it might provoke your anger instead. Shall I give you all the other firearms in the Marquisate? Want to try shooting them all at my face?"

Indeed, who among these monster-like bastards would fear bullets? A body that would just regenerate no matter how it was hit.

I know too. That this kind of gun isn't even a threat to you all.

Odette raising the gun wasn't to shoot Zion. It was to snatch their attention. So they would stop, even if just for a moment.

[Would you like to use 'Shackles of Time (Intangible)'?]

Because the status window needed a brief opening to fasten the shackles.

Yes.

[4 people have been designated.]

[The legs of the designated Johan, Zion, Viktor, and Karl stop.]

['Shackles of Time' have been successfully fastened to 4 people!]

Then the status window displayed the awaited notification.

[Odette] "No, Your Excellency. The person I want to shoot is not you."

She, showing a smile, lightly twisted the wrist holding the gun as it was. The gazes of the four men naturally followed the direction of the muzzle.

The muzzle pointed, naturally, at her own head.

[Male Leads] "...!"

In that moment, the sound of someone inhaling sharply was heard.

[Zion] "Albrecht."

His instantly fierce voice carried a tone of warning.

Normally, her gun would have been snatched immediately by their reflex speed, but not now.

[Stat calculation of designated targets complete!]

[Applicable time varies.]

[The time each shackle can hold the movement of the legs is 5 minutes.]

[00:05:00]

[00:04:59]

Because those shackles would hold them down.

Regarding the absurd physical abilities that reduced 1,000 hours to a mere 5 minutes... let's not think about it.

Because the only important thing was the fact that they would become the best witnesses to witness her death.

[Johan] "Odette, put that gun down. Hmm?"

His voice trembled. Viktor also turned pale.

[Viktor] "What are you doing, darling. I'm going to get angry?"

Phew. She steadied her breathing. Even the slightest mistake in the plan could genuinely cost her life.

She gripped the pistol tighter and slowly opened her mouth.

[Odette] "Don't worry. It is no big deal."

[Johan] "Put the gun down immediately. How is that no big deal?"

[Odette] "Since you are people who easily forget contempt and loathing, surely you can forget my existence quickly as well."

She spoke thus and smiled cynically.
