By the time the sea level reached her waist, the dolphin let her off its back.

[Odette] "Thank you for bringing me."

The dolphin, which had circled her a few times, acting affectionately, soon cut through the water's surface and left the beach.

After bidding farewell to the retreating back of the dolphin, she turned toward the sandy beach and couldn't help but be surprised.

Because what she saw in her vision was a lighthouse.

I thought the whale was swimming for a long time... It came this far?!

A distance of at least three train stations away from the villa based on the railway.

I asked to be far from the cliff, but... this is almost the edge of Meursault Beach.

It was a fortunate thing for her, who had to flee from the Transcendents.

But for things to work out this easily, she felt bewildered because it was so unfamiliar.

Perhaps due to the fierce rain and wind, there was no one on the night beach, but she took out a dark green robe from her inventory and pulled it over herself. Deeply enough to hide her face.

Because she had realized it through her experience playing hide-and-seek with the Transcendents in her past life, she must do her best to conceal herself even in situations with no witnesses.

It would be safer to change clothes just in case.

Walking barefoot on the sandy beach, she summoned the Shop with the status window. Because the clothes in her inventory were excessively aristocratic.

[Would you like to purchase a Country-style gown?]

[Country-style gown: 1 Selene]

[Would you like to purchase a white hood?]

[Hood: 30 Copper]

[Would you like to apply the Country-style gown and hood? (Existing clothes will be stored in inventory)

YES / NO]

When she pressed YES, the clothes under her robe changed into a Country-style gown in an instant.

And near the end of the beach, she summoned the status window again and put on her shoes.

[Would you like to purchase brown shoes?]

[Shoes: 5 Selene]

[Would you like to apply the shoes?

YES / NO]

Still, since it's near the lighthouse, quite a lot of hackney carriages should be passing by.

With this much, no one would see her as Odette.

Certain of this, she quickened her pace toward the main road. Pulling the hood of her robe down firmly.

Contrary to her expectations, she couldn't easily catch a hackney carriage.

Several hackney carriages passed by the lighthouse, but it was because every carriage was fully loaded with passengers.

Is it because of the rain and wind? How is every carriage full?

Thanks to that, only after waiting a full hour did a hackney carriage stop in front of her.

[Odette] "I would like to go to Meursault Station. Could I perhaps take the carriage to the station? I will pay whatever you ask."

A commoner girl with brown hair wearing a robe. Confirming her appearance, the coachman answered solemnly.

[Coachman] "No need for money. Everyone is on their way to the Grand Temple anyway. Since the station is in between, I will drop you off on the way."

[Odette] "Thank you."

However, upon opening the carriage door, she couldn't help but be surprised. Because five passengers were already riding inside the carriage.

There was only one empty seat where she could barely fit.

Since she had to hide her identity, she wanted to avoid traveling with people, but she couldn't delay any longer.

She got into the carriage, sat in the empty seat, and closed the door.

Strange. Why are all the passengers wearing pitch-black clothes?

Not only the gentlemen and ladies but even the young child wore neat black attire. It seemed she was the only one wearing everyday clothes.

Come to think of it, all the passengers in the carriages that passed by earlier were wearing black clothes too, weren't they? Did a major incident happen?

The implication of multiple people wearing pitch-black attire heading to the Grand Temple was clear. They must be planning to attend a funeral.

In the Empire, where catastrophes caused by calamities occurred periodically, a large-scale funeral mass was not a rare event.

But according to the memories of my past life, a funeral of this scale has never been held in the Meursault area. There was no catastrophe either.

Thinking that an incident different from her past life might have occurred, she asked another passenger.

[Odette] "It seems there is a funeral mass at the Grand Temple. Did some incident happen by any chance?"

[Lady] "Have you not heard the news at all?"

A lady asked back with a surprised expression. She nodded.

[Lady] "Good heavens. To think there is still someone who doesn't know this news, it's all everyone is talking about! Don't be surprised. Terribly enough... Lady Odette has passed away."

[Odette] "Pardon?"

[Lady] "The Pope himself has decided to come to the Meursault Grand Temple and officiate the funeral mass personally. So everyone is on their way to the Grand Temple."

[Odette] "Ah... I see..."

At the unexpected answer, she replied awkwardly and pulled her hood down even deeper.

[Lady] "Is that all your reaction? You heard the news that Lady Odette has passed away...?"

The lady who answered had a horrified expression. As if questioning whether she was even a human with emotions to not grieve over such a great tragedy.

[Odette] "I was so startled... I can't react properly. That is... quite a pity."

She barely squeezed out a sad voice.

It was incredibly awkward, but fortunately, the lady took her eyes off Odette. Because she was busy wiping her tears with her handkerchief.

To think my corpse would be discovered this quickly.

She thought the search for her corpse wouldn't start until about tomorrow, since Charlotte would have appeared around the time the Shackles of Time wore off.

The lady wasn't the only one sobbing mournfully.

[Passenger A] "Sigh. How could this happen..."

[Passenger B] "Everyone was so excited because of her miracle just a few days ago..."

All the people in the carriage began to cry, letting out deep sighs.

Odette had to awkwardly endure the damp air inside the carriage.

Charlotte must have definitely arrived at the Meursault villa. Has the news of the new Purifier's awakening not been announced yet?

If that news had been announced, these people wouldn't need to be this sorrowful.

Just before she suffocated in the awkward air, fortunately, the carriage arrived at the station.

Meursault Station was crowded with people, but they were all passengers heading to the Meursault Grand Temple.

Thanks to the trains departing from Meursault being empty, she was able to get a ticket very easily.

Successfully sitting in the first-class seat of the train, she turned her gaze out the window.

A situation where her existing revenge plans became mostly unusable as she awakened as a real Purifier.

Since the Count had also started to be wary of her, it would be much more advantageous to pretend to be dead and make the Count drop his guard.

It just so happened that only tasks requiring time to bear fruit remained anyway.

Paula's lawsuit. Mrs. Becker's illegitimate child, Ferdinand's gambling addiction.

While waiting for the situations she had sown to ripen, she intended to hide in Count Albrecht's territory. In the village where her runaway biological father was said to have lived with her biological mother.

Along with the powerful sound of the steam locomotive, the train departed.

She felt her heart flutter for the first time in a very long while.

I feel like I am finally alive.

She no longer needed to cater to the male leads and her family. She felt her real life had finally begun.

Fortunately, the rain clouds cleared, revealing a beautiful night view outside the window.

Seeing the wide-open scenery, her eyes shone with a sense of liberation.

Upon hearing the news that Odette's corpse had been discovered, the Pope frantically rushed from the Papal Court to the Meursault Grand Temple.

Since the deceased was the Empire's only Purifier, he naturally had to officiate the funeral mass himself.

Because he was certain the Crown Prince had called him for the mass, the Pope had even publicly announced the news of her death himself.

God. Why do you give such an ordeal to this old and frail me?

The reason Johan called the Pope was not to hold Odette's funeral.

[Johan] "You are the Pope, are you not. Naturally, there must be a way. Even an absurd record from the scriptures is fine, so try everything."

It was because he wanted to resurrect Odette.

The eyes of the Crown Prince giving the order were full of a madness sunk so deep its abyss couldn't be fathomed.

[Johan] "Find a way. Otherwise, I will obliterate the entire incompetent Papal Court."

It was a crazy demand that an ordinary tyrant couldn't even hold a candle to.

Did he think the Pope was some kind of god?

The Pope tried to shout, Just kill me instead! Your Highness!, but ultimately couldn't.

The Crown Prince, who received the love of the entire Empire, was always an honest man who kept the law.

Just who was the man standing before him?

Look at that ferocious face. The current Johan would definitely kill him if he pleaded to be killed.

Under the overwhelming pressure emitted by the Transcendent who had lost his Purifier right before his eyes, the Pope found it hard even to stand upright in place.
