But... how?
Whether the river or the sea... only the miracle of awakening should make the waves glow.
She had studied every facet of the Purifiers. Beyond the moment of awakening, they lacked any power to make water shine.
Where is Odette?
She scanned the surroundings. Conviction gripped her; Odette had to be watching this scene from nearby.
Is she hiding among the believers? Or on the cathedral roof?
An uneasy intuition warned her to find the girl before the scheme unfolded.
She searched, but Odette remained nowhere—not in the crowd, not on the roof, and certainly not on the ground.
The mouth of the Rothbart River. The boundary where the sea and the river collided.
Beneath the surface, Odette sat atop a dolphin, gazing up at the chaotic night sky.
I never imagined I would receive this much mourning.
She had expected people to rejoice at her death, just as they had toasted her demise in her previous life.
Her original plan involved returning normally once her revenge was ready. After all, her reappearance should have merely sparked annoyance. But Karin had shaken her head.
[Karin] "No, Odette. The emotion they will feel... is betrayal."
Betrayal? That was a sentiment reserved for those one trusted.
Why would the citizens of the Empire, who never trusted or liked her, feel betrayed now?
They had hated her with unwavering consistency. It made little sense, yet Karin insisted.
[Karin] "Odette, you said Charlotte excels at manipulating emotions. The betrayal the citizens feel toward you will become her greatest weapon to strike you down."
Odette had been willing to endure that resentment. She couldn't remain officially dead forever just because she feared a few insults. But Karin pleaded.
[Karin] "If you return like this, you will face nothing but condemnation."
[Odette] "It’s fine. I can handle it."
[Karin] "But what about me watching you being hated? I’m not okay with it. Seeing people loathe you causes me pain. So, for my sake... please?"
Faced with such a plea, she could no longer stubbornly insist on enduring the backlash. Besides, Karin offered a brilliant alternative.
[Karin] "......What if we make it look like you were resurrected?"
She then read a passage from the Book of Revelation. Only someone like her, who studied every scripture and the obscure verses favored by fanatics, could have devised such an idea.
[Karin] “Behold, she comes with the lowliest of creatures. The heavens shall shine, the sea shall shine, and the sole Savior shall be resurrected upon the earth.”
The cathedral’s loud advertisements for a "historically grand" Victory Day proved useful for the preparation.
They had provided detailed schedules for the firework highlights. While claiming the sky "shone" purely from fireworks was a stretch, dozens of simultaneous explosions created the illusion of a glowing firmament.
So, she waited. She waited for the climax the cathedral had boasted about—the moment massive pyrotechnics would turn the sky into a canopy of light.
Boom-boom-boom! Crash!
The moment finally arrived. Odette turned.
[Odette] "Everyone."
She stood at the threshold of the river and the sea. By merely turning, she could view the ocean beyond the boundary.
A school of deep-sea fish she had summoned waited in formation. Some carried bioluminescent lanterns; others shimmered like living gems. These were creatures that learned to forge their own light in the absolute darkness of the abyss.
[Odette] "Now."
At her signal, they glided toward the surface, igniting their bioluminescence to its brightest intensity. Even as they reached the shallows, the deep-sea dwellers remained vibrant.
The scene mirrors a dream.
Just as Odette breathed naturally underwater, the other sea creatures appeared comfortable in her presence regardless of the environmental shift. In moments like these, the ocean seemed to whisper its allegiance. It cheered for her.
Then, the sensation returned.
Ah, this feeling again......
Her soul fused with the marine life following her command. In those instances, Odette felt like a literal extension of the sea—the source of all life and infinite mystery.
The deep-sea fish sensed this spiritual bond; they moved according to her will without a single word. They ensured the water glowed more brilliantly than the chaotic sky above.
[Believer] "What is this? Why is the sea glowing?"
As the crowd murmured, the whales lurking in the depths let out long, haunting cries.
Linked to Odette’s soul, they knew their turn had come. She moved from the dolphin to the back of the largest whale.
The massive creature rose toward the surface, careful not to jostle her. She had already used her status window to remove the corpse from the tomb.
They won't find it easy to doubt my resurrection. Even if they do, no evidence exists.
She felt her body breaking the surface.
[Odette] "Status Window. Return me to my original form."

[Believer 1] "There! Look over there!"
Several citizens spotted her, their faces masks of shock.
Odette maintained a serene expression. She stepped across the backs of the whales, one by one, executing a brazen performance.
To the observers, it appeared as though she walked upon the glowing waves themselves.
The Cathedral had lost significant public favor. Therefore, those waiting outside on Victory Day were the most devout in Barzeha.
These fervent believers had spent the entire day praying outside the gates they couldn't enter. Some were outright fanatics.
It was only natural that many of them recalled a specific verse from Revelation as they watched the glowing sea. The scene unfolding mirrored the scripture perfectly.
[Believer 2] "Behold, she comes with the lowliest of creatures......"
A believer gasped the verse, voice trembling with emotion.
Charlotte, still searching the crowd for Odette, flinched. That particular verse was considered archaic and groundless, an obscure text that priests treated as mere theory rather than truth.
That's from the Book of Revelation.
The next part is—
Realization widened her eyes. She finally grasped Odette’s objective.
[Crowd] "The heavens shall shine, the sea shall shine, and the sole Savior shall be resurrected upon the earth......"
