How funny. A woman who has never apologized in her life.

Charlotte finally stood in a position where she had to offer a humiliating apology before others.

Charlotte likely gathered the High Priests to witness her political theater, but unfortunately, they could no longer take her side. They simply stared at the floor with uncomfortable expressions.

You should have sent the High Priests away sooner, Charlotte.

Because the High Priests remained, Charlotte couldn't escape this moment. She had spent so much effort pretending to be an angel in front of them, after all.

After a long hesitation, she finally bowed to Odette, her face turning a deep crimson.

[Charlotte] "I am sorry, Lady Odette."

Odette didn't answer. Instead, she picked up her cutlery and continued her meal.

Only the rhythmic clinking of silver filled the hall. She took a firm bite of well-cooked asparagus, then sampled the butter-grilled shrimp.

[Odette] "Could you bring me another glass of wine?"

She even ordered a sub-priest to serve her. She ignored the awkwardness radiating from the High Priests and enjoyed the feast at her own pace.

The treatment Charlotte received mirrored the punishment of a maid who had committed a grave sin against her master. Despite her being a Saintess, Odette treated her like a mere servant—a superior educating a subordinate.

Only after finishing her dessert did Odette rise from the table. She didn't spare Charlotte a single glance.

[Odette] "Your Holiness. I need a place to stay within the Cathedral for a while. I would appreciate it if you prepared a room."

She only looked toward Charlotte when she reached the doors of the banquet hall.

[Odette] "You may straighten your back once I leave, Charlotte. You are lucky to have such a generous superior."

She spoke with cold arrogance, as if she had completely forgotten that the men in the room were powerful High Priests.

At the mouth of the massive river next to the Cathedral, a drawbridge connected the land. Towers stood at both ends, making the structure look like a castle built over the water. Combined with the Cathedral nearby, the bridge created a dreamlike, fantastic view. People called it "Merhen Bridge" because it looked like something out of a fairy tale.

Viktor stared at the two broken transcendents on the beautiful bridge and lost his words.

[Viktor] "What is wrong with these bastards?"

One man was electrocuted, while the other struggled in a horrific mental trap.

Zion's skin sparked with electricity from Johan's power. He looked like a sun god struck by lightning, even breathing smoke from his mouth. If that smoke didn't come from his internal organs burning, the visual would have been cool—the kind of thing men dreamed of.

Meanwhile, Johan stared into the empty air with a face of absolute despair, like a tragic hero from a play.

[Johan] "I…… was wrong. I was wrong about everything. Odette."

Johan muttered the same words he had repeated during his funeral mass for the "dead" Odette.

Viktor sighed and brushed his hair back, easily guessing what kind of mental prison held the Crown Prince.

[Viktor] "Good grief."

Everything would be easier if they just stayed unconscious. It was pathetic to see them both standing on half-dead legs, still pouring their powers into one another.

Their battle caused a massive nuisance for everyone near the Cathedral. Of course, the biggest nuisance was for Viktor himself. He had to cross Merhen Bridge to reach the Cathedral from Red Glovočnik.

I don't care why they are fighting. It is none of my business.

Because the two men continued to attack in a trance, the scale of their power grew too large to ignore.

They will destroy the entire area if this keeps up.

Fortunately, their instincts tried to avoid damaging the Cathedral itself.

I didn't dress up this well just to deal with these idiots.

Odette could never give them her heart because they were such fools. They could fight here for a hundred years, and she still wouldn't love them.

Viktor judged them harshly, completely forgetting that he belonged to the same group of fools.

[Johan] "Odette, I……."

[Viktor] "Shut up, you stupid Highness."

Johan's repetitive mumbling annoyed him. Viktor struck the back of Johan's neck with full force. The Prince fell to the ground, and silence finally returned.

Viktor created a massive flame in his palm. Using that fire, he produced a thick cloud of smoke and forced it into the mouths and noses of both Johan and Zion.

[Zion] "O……dette."

Zion, looking like a cursed sun god, muttered his final word and collapsed onto the bridge. Sparks of electricity flickered one last time across his falling body.

[Citizen] "T-thank you, Colonel!"

Viktor didn't even look at the grateful citizens. He hadn't cleared the path to help them.

[Viktor] "Tsk. I hope these bastards aren't filthy. It will be a problem if my clothes get dirty."

He hoisted the two men onto his shoulders, worrying only about his suit.

Riding a horse while carrying two grown men was impossible. He decided to walk to the Cathedral with his heavy cargo.

If I just dump these two in a corner of the Cathedral, I can finally meet her—

Suddenly, a high-pitched whistle cut through the air. A firework shot upward. A leftover shell for the evening display had sat nearby, and a stray spark from Zion's body must have ignited it.

BOOM!

A massive flower of light exploded in the sky.

Viktor froze, the two heavy men still on his shoulders. His legs began to shake.

Once, that sound served as a trigger for his hunting gun trauma.

The sound of hounds barking. The sound of a red-lipped woman on a horse firing a gun at his shoulder. The sound of young children, dragged away because they were beautiful, falling into the grass. The sound of dying children sobbing for their mothers.

But as the bang echoed, the trauma of his youth didn't play in his mind. He no longer possessed that trauma. The sound of fireworks no longer reminded him of a hunting ground.

One can't easily erase trauma, but a greater shock can overwrite it. Now, the sound of a gunshot only summoned the image of Odette holding the gun.
