The knowledge that the entity speaking through the status window was a god, sent a chill down her spine. And why had it waited for her so long?
[Odette] "You waited for me? Why……?"
[So please, say my name. Odette.]
The status window offered no other answer. It simply displayed that final message.
She understood the situation. The entity behind the window, the First Transcendent, awaited her to speak his name.
How am I supposed to know your name……?
In The Only Savior, "God" was an absolute entity. God existed beyond all concepts. The being possessed such extreme divinity that no one dared define it with a name.
Even if the First Transcendent lived as a human once, he eventually ascended to godhood. Such an entity couldn't carry a mere mortal name.
Therefore, his request made no sense. Since The Only Savior drew inspiration from Germanic mythology, she could guess a few names, but playing a guessing game with a god would end badly.
Even if I knew the name…… I am not sure I should do as he says.
The First Transcendent was born as a beast of god, killed a god, and became a god himself. This meant he likely possessed a terrible temper.
Wicked gods in myths always acted exactly like that. They coaxed humans into breaking taboos, fueled their arrogance, and dragged them into misfortune and chaos.
I already have enough headaches to deal with……
[So please, say my name. Odette.]
She stared at the lingering message in despair.
She asked for his identity because she needed help. If the entity proved trustworthy, she intended to secure his aid immediately.
She wanted to know if Malea was safe and if Viktor had stopped Johan. The status window clearly saw further into the future than she did. It held the answers.
I wanted to ask why the end of the Calamity connects to the deep sea. And if Malea is somewhere nearby……
However, the entity's overwhelming status made asking for help impossible. A cruel god would likely offer aid in a twisted, unwanted way.
Ding!
A new notification chimed.
[You Don't need to ask me for help.]
[The 'Status Window' gifts an 'Eye' to the 'Master of the Status Window'.]
['Eye of 『 』': Pierces through any truth and understands any absolute law.]
[Searching for the optimal answer to Odette's questions……]
[Optimal answer for why the Calamity connects to the deep sea/whether Malea is in the deep sea: "The Truth of Charlotte."]
[Will you confirm "The Truth of Charlotte"?]
[YES / NO]
The endless cascade of notifications overwhelmed her.
Ding. Ding.
Odette stared at the ringing status window in confusion.
Does knowing Charlotte's truth mean I will automatically find Malea's location?'
She carefully read through the text.
[『 』holds the duty of Omniscience and can't reject the truth.]
[YES is selected automatically.]
What……? Wait a minute!
Her vision turned completely white before she could protest. The heavy sensation of the deep sea, the crushing water pressure, and the stench of rotting corpses vanished instantly.
Déjà vu struck her. The status window transported Odette to a point in the past. It mirrored the time it showed her Karl's memories.
Warm spring air brushed past her. Birds chirped a cheerful melody. The scenery changed in a flash.
Odette stood before a grand marble pillar.
Where in the world am I now……?
She scanned her surroundings and identified the place as an ancient temple. Intricately carved statues lined the area. Grand pillars supported a rectangular building, spaced five paces apart.
An ancient city spread out below the hill, looking exactly like an illustration from a history book.
It promised to show me Charlotte's truth. Why bring me here?
The pure white temple stood majestically, overlooking the city from the high hill. The people below and the people inside the temple all wore tunics.
Tap, tap.
Light, quick footsteps approached.
Odette turned toward the noise.
A woman wearing wooden strap sandals sprinted straight at her. As she closed the distance, the woman passed right through Odette's body.
This makes me feel like a ghost.
[Woman] "Rosaline, Rosaline!"
Oblivious to passing through Odette, the woman eagerly called out her friend's name.
Rosaline?
She turned her head instinctively at the familiar name.
Light pink hair. Pale blue eyes. The figure in the light blue tunic was far too familiar.
That is not Rosaline……
Odette gasped.
[Rosaline] "Hannah, what is going on? Why are you rushing?"
That is…… Charlotte……
Charlotte…… Han Songyi…… How could she be Rosaline?
The first Purifier of humanity, and the greatest. The first Purifier to perform a miracle, revered by all.
Odette stumbled in shock, despite lacking a physical body.
I expected Charlotte to be a fake Purifier and the creator of the Calamities……
Charlotte's river in The Only Savior ran thick and red. She smiled at the Calamities. And when Odette awakened, Charlotte became an A-class Purifier, unlike the previous timeline. Over the past two years, she had easily concluded that Charlotte was the mastermind behind the disasters.
But Charlotte being Rosaline makes no sense. She lived hundreds of years ago.
Rosaline existed when the holy scriptures were first written. She lived during the era when the Barzeha Empire was still a fragmented, small kingdom. That was nearly a thousand years ago……
Ignoring her shock, Hannah spoke with an excited voice.
[Hannah] "I just heard incredible news from the High Priest. The World Tree delivered a great revelation to him!"
[Rosaline] "What revelation?"
[Hannah] "God himself will send down a Daughter of God to purify the world. She will appear among the priests of the Grand Temple!"
Hannah linked arms with Rosaline, and they brushed past the stumbling Odette.
The moment Rosaline phased through her, Odette's vision spun, and intense dizziness took over.
When she opened her eyes, her perspective had shifted. She stared down at Hannah, whose arm was linked with hers.
[Odette] "Appoint a Daughter of God? How many?"
Rosaline's voice slipped from her own throat. Odette occupied Rosaline's body.
[Hannah] "I asked the High Priest, but the World Tree didn't specify the number."
[Odette] "Hmm. I see."
The natural response flowed from Odette's lips. She began to process thoughts and emotions exactly as Rosaline would.
Then it will obviously be me.
She forgot her identity as Odette. She naturally became Rosaline.
The High Priest of the Grand Temple possessed the unique ability to hear the World Tree's revelations directly. He alone knew the exact location of the World Tree. He alone received and delivered its divine prophecies.
Thus, the High Priest's authority pierced the heavens across the continent. No emperor of any empire dared compare to him. The beasts of god also belonged to the temple and obeyed the High Priest's commands. Upon his order, they eagerly participated in holy wars to claim sacred lands.
And Rosaline held the position of the second-highest priest in the Grand Temple, right below the High Priest. She dominated every training session and exam to select the next leader.
She boasted youth and unparalleled beauty, making her the most popular figure among the beasts of god. She stood as the current High Priest's most cherished disciple, guaranteed to inherit his title.
[Rosaline] "Who among us will awaken as the Daughter of God?"
She asked Hannah, feigning ignorance despite knowing the answer.
Hannah wrinkled her nose in disbelief.
[Hannah] "Are you kidding? I don't know how many there will be, but you will definitely be one of them, Rosaline! You are the next High Priest. You will lead the Grand Temple!"
Hannah spoke the truth.
That night, Rosaline dreamed an awakening dream. A single white rose floated in a teacup barely filled with water. She couldn't deny it was an awakening dream. The water in the cup sparkled with absolute purity, as if it held pure light.
[World Tree] "Purifying Water."
The World Tree's voice clearly stated that this pathetic single rose represented Rosaline's Purifying Water.
[World Tree] "The clearest and purest thing in the world. It can wash away any filth."
The World Tree explained the magnificent power of the Purifying Water, but those grand modifiers meant nothing. Not when her portion was so tiny and insignificant.
