All light vanished the moment the gates of hell slammed shut.
In the pitch-black darkness, the powerful force pulling her snapped. Like a person caught in a typhoon, Rosaline flailed in the air before crashing into the ground.
The floor must be miles below.
Contrary to her expectation, the fall ended quickly.
Thud!
Her body struck the hard surface.
[Rosaline] "Ow! That hurts."
A faint light glowed where she fell. It was a sticky, red light, similar to what one might find in a butcher shop.
Usually, she would find such a glow ominous, but in this terrifying darkness, even this light was precious. She stayed under the glow as if possessed.
At least there is some light. If it were total darkness, I would have fainted in minutes.
As if responding to her thoughts, the mysterious light grew brighter. However, as her vision cleared, her expression darkened.
What... what is this place?
Rosaline landed in the middle of a crowd packed in a tight circle. Countless people trapped her, standing layer upon layer. They all looked down at her simultaneously. No one blinked. Their expressions were grotesque, like something from a horror movie.
The person standing in the very front row was......
[Rosaline] "H-Hanna."
She called her name with a choked voice.
[Hanna] "Did you use a curse on me just to get that?"
Hanna's eyes shone like glass beads. They reflected Rosaline's face with perfect clarity.
Rosaline turned her gaze away, unable to meet those eyes. But no matter where she looked, she couldn't escape the stares.
Everyone surrounding her was a familiar face. High priests, healers, Transcendents—everyone she had sacrificed with her own hands reflected Rosaline with their glass-bead eyes. She felt trapped among hundreds of mirrors.
She wished the light would vanish. Instead, the thick red glow turned blindingly bright, like a sun beating down.
Now, she saw a land covered in humans. Endless, terrifying numbers of people—no, a terrifying number of victims—stared only at her.
I... I have to run.
She moved by instinct, scrambling to her feet. Those mad stares made her suffocate.
She pushed through the crowd with her arms. They didn't block her path, but they never took their eyes off her.
No matter how many layers of people she pushed through, there was no end. She was trapped in a nightmare.
Right. This is a nightmare. This isn't reality!
She forced herself to breathe.
Wake up. It's fine. It's fine! This isn't real. It's not reality!
Kind Hanna couldn't possibly be in hell, could she?
Everything is just an illusion. A fake! Odette said so. This is just a Prison of Time—
Her thoughts cut off as she repeated the words like a spell.
The Prison of Time. She finally understood the meaning. This was the hell where she would live forever, a place she could never escape.
Could a dream you never wake from still be called a dream? This was Rosaline's brutal reality.
Suddenly, a snort of laughter erupted. Rosaline turned toward the sound. Hanna's lips curled upward. Her mouth tore open in a bizarre way, stretching almost to her eyes.
[Hanna] "Do you understand now?"
A distorted voice, like a scratching sound from an old record player, drifted from her torn mouth. Then, her head fell to the floor with a thud.
[Rosaline] "......!"
While Rosaline stood frozen with her mouth open, the heads of everyone surrounding her fell to the ground at once.
Splash!
Hot blood sprayed onto her face as arteries burst.
Human heads rolled across the floor like spilled balls. The sight mirrored how they looked when the Calamity spat them out.
The severed heads giggled, mocking Rosaline in unison. They looked ready to enjoy the eternity stretching out before her.
The gates of hell vanished into the deep sea only after swallowing Rosaline completely.
It is finally over.
Han Songyi would spend eternity in that place. Even if she suffered more than the weight of her sins, hell would never end.
Karl's hell didn't weigh sins on a scale to give a fair punishment. Like a hell created by an evil god, it simply punished the target forever.
She will never escape. She will rot there until her soul wears away.
Relief washed over Odette. She had finally ended the cycle of hatred. Before she could enjoy the moment, a notification rang out.
[The World Tree expresses deep gratitude to the 'Master of the Status Window']
[The World Tree views the 'Master of the Status Window' as its savior and grants a title.]
[Savior of Yggdrasil]
*T/N: Yggdrasil is the name of the world tree in Nordic mythology.
She smiled. She intended to accept the gratitude.
[Purifier of Creation]
[Healer of the Source]
[Guardian of the Sanctuary]
The notifications continued without end.
[Holy and Kind Ally of the Divine Tree]
[The Only Salvation for the Fallen and New Gods]
[The Only Return for the Ruler of Time]
[The Saint with the Most Absolute Meaning Across the Continent and Ages]
Enough, stop, stop!
The World Tree was being far too dramatic.
Does it have no dignity? These titles are getting embarrassing.
As she protested, the ringing stopped. The World Tree decided to show its thanks differently.
[The World Tree grants a gift to the 'Master of the Status Window'.]
[Reward: Laurel Crown of Light]
[You can see the future through the World Tree.]
A crown of light rested on Odette's head like a tiara. Suddenly, the future unfolded before her.
She saw a world without the Calamity. People enjoyed their daily lives in peace. The bells warning of disaster no longer rang. Parents no longer cried while holding the broken bodies of their children. The lands once famous for disasters became rich farms. People who fled to the capital returned to their homes.
I am glad.
But the visions didn't stop there. The World Tree showed another scene. She saw how the four male leads, including Karl, lived after she died in her previous life. She saw how desperately they missed her. She frowned.
Why show me this now?
[World Tree] "Don't be afraid. Follow your heart."
The World Tree spoke with a golden voice. It sounded as if this message was the most important truth Odette had to keep.
[Odette] "What do you mean?"
She asked, but the World Tree remained silent. It returned to its ancient state, watching over everything in silence.
[Odette] "You gave me all those titles, yet you stay silent when I need an explanation?"
She complained, but the tree remained solemn.
[Odette] "I plan to follow my heart. I know my own mind best, so don't worry."
She muttered the words as if making an excuse.
Since both Karl and the World Tree said the same thing, it made her feel as if she didn't actually know her true feelings.
Suddenly, she felt a floating sensation. Something supported her feet. She looked down and saw a massive blue whale carrying her on its back.
The whale also carried the other male leads, the unconscious Malea and Paula, and even the Count. It seemed the blue whale wanted to repay Odette for purifying the sea.
The whale slowly rose toward the surface.
As they moved away, the full view of the World Tree appeared. The giant peach tree standing in the middle of a clear, turquoise sea looked like a hidden paradise. For now, only peach blossoms bloomed, but soon, sea creatures would fill this place. It would look exactly like the future the World Tree showed her.
Bright sunlight hit the sea as they reached the surface. A thought suddenly struck her.
Oh no. I should have checked the condition of the male leads first!
She turned her head quickly. She found Johan, Viktor, and Zion watching her. They had opened their eyes while rising to the surface. Zion spoke first.
[Zion] "O...dette."
His face twisted with raw emotion as he spoke her name. Self-blame and shock filled his trembling voice.
She realized the truth.
The World Tree... didn't just show the past life to me.
When the tree showed her the past, it must have shown the male leads their past lives as well.
[Zion] "I was wrong...... Odette. I was wrong about everything."
Viktor and Johan remained silent, but they wore the same expression as Zion. Their faces twisted with regret. Their clenched fists revealed their inner turmoil.
[Johan] "Odette......"
The moment Johan opened his mouth with a trembling voice, the Status Window rang a loud alarm, cutting him off.
[The Status Window takes back the power of 『 』 from the 'Master of the Status Window'!]
[The Status Window returns all party members to their original location.]
[Coordinate: Albrecht Mansion]
[『 』 is always useful to the 'Master'!]
[I am nothing like the other men who just sat around doing nothing!]
The text appeared with a clear sense of jealousy.
