The Scarred Wedding Night
Please note: This chapter contains emotionally heavy scenes, including coercive intimacy, humiliation, and emotional distress that may be sensitive for some readers.
She stared in shock.
[Dianna] "Why……"
[Guiscard] "Why do you ask? It's only natural to spend the wedding night with my new bride."
The golden lamps cast a warm glow across his dark face. His purple eyes, reflecting the candlelight, fixed on her face.
It was strange. Perhaps because of the shadows, his eyes glittered. The look held a mix of cruel satisfaction and pure joy.
[Guiscard] "What? Do you hate the thought of sleeping with a slave brat?"
[Dianna] "……."
[Guiscard] "Too bad. This will be your reality from now on, My Lady."
A captured bird, a promised shame. Dianna had to make a choice. Her body trembled violently.
[Dianna] "Remove it."
[Guiscard] "……."
[Dianna] "This thing around my neck, remove it."
[Guiscard] "……."
Her silver-gray eyes met his. She wore no flirtatious expression, genuinely offering none.
At her calm words, Guiscard reached out. The collar unlocked, responding to its master's touch. His massive hand brushed against her neck.
So I will walk this destined path to hell after all. Is there any difference between being sold to Ferdinand and facing this?
If so, it's better to win this man's favor. He removed the collar just because I softened my stance.
Dianna opened her eyes and looked at the man who was now her husband. Her gaze held utter surrender. His large hand stroked her neck before pulling away.
Numbness already gripped her mind. She approached him with a blank expression. Reading the lack of resistance in her eyes, his hands eagerly untied her thin clothes.
Goosebumps broke out over her exposed skin. His gaze swept over her body—her delicate neck like a deer's, her full breasts, her legs pressed together, shying away, and her neat hair. A burning desire filled his once ice-cold eyes.
His lips bit into her neck. As she bit her lip to endure the pain, his rough hand pressed against her skin. For a brief second, his hand trembled.
It's nothing. I had to face this eventually.
Dianna Brienne, you know exactly what happens to the daughters of fallen nobles. Now, seduce him. Only then will your future life become easier.
She forced her stiff body to move, wrapping her arms around his neck.
[Dianna] "Ugh, mgh!"
Who claimed that kisses were sweet? His kiss was relentless, signaling the union to come. His tongue thoroughly explored every corner of her small mouth. His fingers slid beneath her collarbones.
Right, even this act is a form of revenge for him. That's why his touch is so rough.
[Dianna] "Ah, hah!"
Her body shook. The sheer anticipation of her first intimacy made her dizzy, and the man's intense attitude terrified her.
The man finally shed his clothes. Dianna lay flat, looking up at him as he loomed over her. He reached out to stroke her hair, inhaling its scent.
[Guiscard] "I only ever imagined it."
[Dianna] "……."
[Guiscard] "What it'd feel like to touch your hair properly."
[Dianna] "……."
[Guiscard] "What scent it would have, how soft it would be."
[Dianna] "……."
[Guiscard] "It smells disgusting."
Yet, he repeatedly stroked her long hair, pressing his lips against the strands. It was an action meant for lovers.
When Dianna instinctively tried to shrink away, he pinned her down.
His tongue slid down her collarbones. She reached out, attempting to slide the shirt from his shoulders.
He snorted in amusement.
He spoke no words, but his gaze matched that of someone looking at a submissive slave. He abandoned any further foreplay. Instead, he slapped her hands away and drove into her in a single motion.
[Dianna] "Ah, ahh!"
She squeezed her eyes shut and thrashed beneath him. She wanted to cry out in pain, but she knew he wouldn't listen. Instead, she bit her lip hard. But that restraint broke quickly.
[Dianna] "Oh, ah!"
As her arms instinctively tightened around his neck, he threw his hips forward with brutal force. A low groan echoed in her ears.
Tears streamed down as she looked up at Guiscard. Tilting her chin up, he hungrily licked away her tears.
Her arms flailed helplessly against his rough movements. Muffled whimpers escaped her lips under the pressure of his hand.
[Guiscard] "Dianna."
[Dianna] "……."
[Guiscard] "Dianna, Dianna. My Lady, My Lady!"
Ah, he is a monster.
Dianna closed her eyes.
She woke and bit her lip. A dull, throbbing ache plagued her entire body. She stared blankly at the blood-stained sheets, biting her lip again. The reality of what had happened refused to sink in.
She touched her bare neck. The collar was gone.
Captors dragged her like a dog to her wedding in front of everyone, and she surrendered her body to this man just to remove the leash.
[Dianna] "Ah…… ugh……"
So many things had happened so quickly that she had forced herself to deny the shock. But now, fully understanding her actions, nausea seized her. She had sacrificed her purity, the most sacred value forced upon a noble lady.
Was that all?
She had shared her naked body with her enemy. She had accepted his kisses, groaning in his embrace. Whether it was pain or pleasure mattered little.
Disgust at herself and the reality awaiting her welled up inside. She covered her mouth. Her stomach twisted and churned relentlessly.
[Dianna] "Ugh, blegh!"
She retched right onto the bed. At the same time, her muffled sobs burst out. Anxiety and terror gripped her. Yet, no one existed to soothe her fears. She realized she was entirely alone.
For the first time, Dianna discarded her noble mask, becoming a fragile human being as she wept.
A sudden rustling broke the silence. She turned around. Guiscard sat in a nearby chair, watching her.
Believing she was alone, she had wept freely. The moment she caught sight of him, she forgot her tears and stared at him with a frozen expression.
Tears rolled down her cheeks. She instinctively pulled the blanket to cover her naked body.
Guiscard turned his head away. Her soft sniffling filled the quiet room. Desiring no more of the sound, he strode out.
It was cold wedding night.
A noble from fallen Panborough had become queen. That fact alone invited endless mockery. Not a foreign royal, but a noble from a destroyed nation. Moreover, look at the wedding itself. The king had maliciously forced a slave collar onto his bride.
Because of this, utter disgrace stained everything surrounding Dianna. Guiscard, determined to inflict maximum pain, assigned maids who held deep hostility toward her. Among them was a lady-in-waiting she had personally dismissed in the past. It was the absolute pinnacle of cruelty. Every single person was her enemy.
Before she could even try to change her situation, every attempt ended in failure. Guiscard literally abandoned her, subtly pushing her into traps. She wished he would just mock her openly instead.
[Saruvia] "Oh, my Queen."
Lady Levian, who became her lady-in-waiting, possessed a beautiful face but a tongue like a poisonous snake. A virtuous lady protecting the pitiful queen of a defeated country—the public praised Saruvia's virtue, while everyone pointed fingers at Dianna.
If Dianna wore luxurious clothes, critics accused her of wasting the treasury. If she dressed simply, they mocked her as a former slave.
Her very voice, even her breath, became targets of ridicule whenever she spoke. At palace banquets, noblemen fled to avoid even a brief conversation with her, and knights avoided her with clear disgust.
She's the lady of a defeated nation.
Look at her pathetic state.
The slave queen.
Even the palace jesters sang songs mocking her. The slave queen. The lowly queen. The queen without a country. Every insult in the court followed her.
[Saruvia] "You are all too cruel. Don't treat Her Majesty this way."
Lady Levian always stood in front of her to defend her, but Dianna knew the truth. Saruvia only fueled the public's hatred.
She regularly handed Dianna outfits that violated proper protocol, knowing she was unfamiliar with Lodbrog fashion. Saruvia silenced Dianna to prevent her from performing any royal duties, acting as if she spoke for the entire queen's palace.
Maids and ladies-in-waiting served Lady Levian as if she were the true queen, while they ignored or ridiculed Dianna as a nonentity.
Naturally, her husband Guiscard never became her ally. Leaving her behind in that hell, he spent his time moving from one battlefield to another. Even worse, before departing for war and upon his return, he held her brutally. His passion felt like an explosion of raw energy, matching the wild nature of a vicious beast. Whenever their bodies joined, she vomited afterward, and Guiscard left the room.
Yet, Dianna never refused him. After all, the more he held her, the more it appeared to others that he favored her. If there was one thing to appreciate about him, it was that he never looked at another woman. Whether she should genuinely feel grateful for that remained a mystery. She thought coldly.
In that hell, closeness remained impossible between them, especially since Guiscard rarely stayed at the palace. She turned away from him, and he kept his distance. Yet, he maintained one strict rule: whenever he resided at the palace, they shared one meal a day. That arrangement at least made Dianna look like a queen to onlookers.
It was the fourth year of their marriage. Weakness had plagued her body recently, delaying her sleep. When she entered the dining hall with a face paler than usual, she found a meal consisting entirely of meat. Dianna stared blankly at the dishes. She had no appetite.
[Guiscard] "Our queen remains as picky as ever."
Guiscard, already seated, spoke. His sharp eyes locked onto her with contempt, but she refused to meet his gaze.
[Guiscard] "I hear the queen's demands are excessive."
[Dianna] "……."
[Guiscard] "They say you've become especially difficult lately."
In the past, he had used rumors about her shabby clothes to force her into extravagant dresses. Now, he chose to criticize her lack of appetite.
[Guiscard] "Eat."
At his command, Dianna listlessly ate the meat offered to her. Nausea flared the moment she caught the scent, but she fought to suppress it, chewing slowly. Though the meat was quite tender, chewing felt like pure labor to someone who had lost her appetite.
She looked at Guiscard as if asking if he was satisfied. He was staring directly at her face. The moment their eyes met……
[Dianna] "Ugh!"
She covered her mouth and retched. Just then, one of the maids standing behind her cried out.
[Maid] "Your Majesty! My Queen, are you all right?"
[Dianna] "……."
[Maid] "You should have controlled yourself a bit more."
Dianna looked at her with confusion.
[Maid] "Even if looking at His Majesty's face makes you sick to your stomach……"
[Dianna] "……."
The maid spoke in a whisper, but it was loud enough for Guiscard to hear perfectly. He rose from his seat instantly.
From that day on, they never shared a meal again. A few days later, he departed for the battlefield.
