Everything You Wish For

[Aldwin] "Sob, sob……."

[Elona] "Waaaaah!"

Cries filled the bedroom. Overwhelmed by the display, Roserikta couldn't find any words and simply rolled her eyes.

[Elona] "How…… how could you do that! How could you leave without saying a single word to me……! Waaaaah!"

[Aldwin] "She is absolutely right. Why did you do such a thing, Your Grace?"

Once her nausea settled, intense hunger took its place. Clobellina had persistently demanded that Kalart fetch food immediately.

Upon learning that Roserikta had starved for days while suffering from morning sickness, he rushed outside to summon his staff.

Eaton received the news first and woke the Chamberlain and the Head Maid. Both hurried down to the kitchen to pressure the head chef. Soon after, a crowd of maids arrived.

In truth, the Head Maid had ordered the sudden intrusion, declaring that she could never allow a lady carrying a royal child to rest in such a filthy room. Kalart argued that the room was not filthy but merely preserved in its original state, yet no one listened to the Crown Prince. Everyone focused entirely on their duties.

Amidst the chaos, Elona burst into tears, unable to hold back her past sorrow, and the Head Maid joined in, shedding tears of her own.

Roserikta nibbled on a lump of cheese from the onion soup the head chef had quickly sent up, looking deeply apologetic.

[Roserikta] "I've nothing to say to you both. Back then, well…… the situation was complicated."

If she had woken Elona and the Head Maid to say goodbye, she would never have been able to leave so easily. Her heart would have wavered completely.

[Elona] "There is an excuse for everything! You can't simply brush this aside by saying the situation was complicated! Waaaaah……."

[Aldwin] "That is a hundred percent correct, Your Grace."

Elona shouted through her tears, and the Head Maid chimed in. Her sudden shout caused Roserikta to swallow her cheese too quickly, triggering a sharp fit of coughing.

[Kalart] "Oh dear. Are you alright?"

He quickly pressed a napkin to her lips and patted her back.

[Roserikta] "Ah, hic, yes. I am fine now."

[Kalart] "Eat slowly and carefully."

He then guided a spoonful of soup directly to her lips.

The crying maid, the complaining Head Maid, and the awkward situation didn't bother Kalart in the least. In fact, he secretly wished the two women would push even harder. That way, Roserikta might think twice before ever trying to return to the Witch's Kingdom.

[Roserikta] "I am entirely sorry."

She swallowed another mouthful of soup and apologized again. Elona snapped her head up.

[Elona] "An apology is not enough."

[Aldwin] "She speaks the truth."

Meanwhile, Kalart brought another spoonful of soup to Roserikta's mouth.

[Roserikta] "……Then, what should I do?"

She couldn't stop Kalart because the soup tasted irresistibly delicious. Her prolonged starvation left her utterly ravenous. Now that food entered her system, her hunger grew continuously. She felt like a bear that had just woken from winter hibernation.

[Elona] "Don't ever leave again!"

Elona shouted firmly.

[Aldwin] "Naturally."

The Head Maid agreed, and Kalart almost nodded along.

[Roserikta] "Uh, well…… it is still a bit too early for that decision."

[Elona] "Does that mean you intend to leave us again?"

[Roserikta] "Most likely……."

[Elona] "Good heavens, how can you say that again!"

She burst into loud sobs once more before speaking.

[Elona] "Fine. I don't understand everything, so I will accept that you have an undeniable reason, Lady Roserikta. But even so, don't stay away for so long next time. You can travel back and forth every day!"

That is an excellent idea.

Kalart almost blurted out loud.

[Roserikta] "That would be difficult……. My body feels much heavier now."

[Elona] "Then delay your departure until after the baby arrives!"

[Roserikta] "Well, that is……."

As she hesitated to give a definitive answer, Kalart quickly slipped another spoonful into her mouth. Seizing the moment, Elona spoke as if they had rehearsed the entire scene.

[Elona] "It's a promise, then!"

[Aldwin] "You have promised us."

[Roserikta] "Huh? No, I never said those words—cough!"

She choked on her soup once more.

[Kalart] "Oh dear."

He set the soup bowl down, gathered Roserikta into his arms, and rubbed her back gently.

[Kalart] "You must be careful."

Elona stood up abruptly.

[Elona] "I will head down to the kitchen and check if the other dishes are ready."

The Head Maid followed her out.

[Aldwin] "I shall accompany you. I never realized the head chef could be such a slow individual. I must go and push him."

[Elona] "That is a wonderful idea, Head Maid."

Watching the two rush out of the bedroom, Roserikta muttered in distress.

[Roserikta] "I didn't actually promise them……."

[Kalart] "There is one more piece of cheese left. Can you manage it?"

He asked gently, hiding his internal satisfaction. Still hungry, Roserikta nodded and opened her mouth. Kalart blew on the cheese to cool it, ensuring it would not burn her, and brought the spoon to her lips with a deeply tender expression.

[Kalart] "Is there anything else you want to eat?"

[Roserikta] "I want apple pie and potato cake. Covered in lots of cream. And some stewed cherries, too."

Though she felt guilty about Elona and the Head Maid, the ability to enjoy food made her incredibly happy. Having Kalart stick close to her side like a mother bird, feeding her spoonful after spoonful, made it even better.

She leaned her head against his shoulder, thinking quietly to herself.

What should I do? This feels too wonderful. I am glad I came back.

As if he heard her silent thoughts, he gently stroked her hair.

[Kalart] "Welcome home."

[Roserikta] "……Thank you."

After eating her fill for the first time in days, Roserikta lay down on the bed, which the maids had hurriedly refreshed with clean sheets. Naturally, Kalart took his place right beside her.

She used his thigh as a pillow and hummed a low tune. At this moment, she realized with absolute certainty that a happy life without him was something she could never desire.

Several days passed similarly. Roserikta's daily routine remained consistent.

She woke up late, enjoyed a combined breakfast and lunch, and gathered her strength before walking through the garden for tea time. Afterward, she studied magic with Clobellina or read books. Before she knew it, the afternoon vanished, leading to dinner, snacks, and an early bedtime.

Of course, unexpected events constantly interrupted her schedule. The Head Maid regularly brought rare fruits or plants, claiming they were new gifts to the imperial family. The royal physician also visited to teach her exercises suitable for pregnant women. Even Emperor Belto I sent musicians or poets almost every day to assist with her prenatal care. Thus, her seemingly quiet days actually remained filled with constant activity.

Kalart spent every single moment of that busy time right by her side.

[Kalart] "I should do it like this?"

Today, the royal physician demonstrated a massage technique to reduce swelling in the feet. The person learning this skill was Kalart, not Roserikta. He knelt on the floor opposite her chair, rubbing her bare feet exactly as the physician instructed.

[Physician] "No, Your Highness. You are being far too gentle. Please apply a bit more pressure."

[Kalart] "What if I cause her pain?"

The royal physician sighed internally.

[Physician] "That amount of pressure will not hurt her at all……."

Roserikta nodded in agreement.

[Roserikta] "Just think of it like picking laughter mushrooms."

[Kalart] "I understand the concept, but still."

Despite their reassurances, his touch remained exceptionally cautious. Her feet, small enough to fit inside tiny socks, had been swelling frequently of late.

Kalart carefully pressed his fingertips against her ankle, anklebone, and instep, then suddenly spoke.

[Kalart] "Are human feet normally shaped like this?"

The royal physician's face paled instantly.

[Physician] "Oh, Your Highness. Saying such things directly in front of the lady is rather……."

Pregnant women grew sensitive and easily hurt by minor comments due to the physical changes of pregnancy. The warnings to guard one's words and expressions around them existed for a reason.

Roserikta pouted.

[Roserikta] "It is only because of the swelling. You know that. They don't look like this in the evening."

Her feet possessed short toes and usually looked quite round, but the severe swelling made them resemble a split ball.

[Kalart] "They look completely round."

[Roserikta] "Seriously, it is just the swelling!"

[Kalart] "Yes, I know."

[Roserikta] "Wow, incredible……."

What is his problem? Is he trying to start a fight with me?

She pulled her foot back sharply, pushing Kalart away. The movement conveyed her intense frustration.

[Roserikta] "Leave it alone. I will do it myself."

[Kalart] "What are you talking about?"

His expression turned serious as he held onto her foot, refusing to let go.

[Kalart] "I meant that I've never seen a foot shaped like this before."

[Roserikta] "You have barely looked at human feet in your entire life anyway."

[Kalart] "Even so, it doesn't change my opinion of your feet."

[Roserikta] "Don't form opinions about human feet. Some feet are naturally handsome, and others are plain."

[Kalart] "It is only natural to admire beautiful things."

[Roserikta] "Don't try to use nature as a shield—wait, what did you say?"

[Kalart] "I mean, there is no reason for even your feet to be this beautiful."

[Roserikta] "……."

[Physician] "……."

Roserikta and the royal physician wore identical blank expressions. Kalart paid them no mind and resumed massaging the swollen foot with intense care, exactly as the physician had demonstrated.

[Physician] "I, cough, believe I've nothing more to add. I shall take my leave now."

Kalart answered without even looking up.

[Kalart] "Thank you for your effort. Return tomorrow."

[Physician] "Ah, well, yes…… understood, Your Highness……."

That command meant he needed to research more useful information for pregnant women by tomorrow. The poor physician, whose hair was turning gray from studying every single medical text and case study on pregnancy, could never tell the Crown Prince that he already knew everything available.

[Physician] "I will do my absolute best……."

The royal physician departed. Though the endless work exhausted him now, his research would eventually expand the Empire's medical knowledge regarding pregnancy and childbirth significantly.

Roserikta wiggled her swollen toes, which felt stiff from the fluid.

[Roserikta] "It feels a bit better now……."

Kalart cupped his hand around her toes, inspecting them as if encountering a strange, unexpected marvel.

[Kalart] "Do it again."

[Roserikta] "Excuse me?"

[Kalart] "Just a bit more. Please?"

[Roserikta] "……."

What is wrong with this man? Why is his voice sounding so deep and intimate?

[Roserikta] "It doesn't move easily yet."

As she strained to wiggle her toes, Kalart traced the movement with his fingertips.

[Kalart] "It's fascinating. Remarkable."

He surely didn't mean that the simple act of moving toes was remarkable.

[Kalart] "They have this round shape, yet they move perfectly."

He acted like someone discovering a human foot for the very first time. Roserikta let out a quiet laugh.

Perhaps this man simply couldn't distinguish between a beautiful object and a novel one. Because of his past curse, he had never studied another person's body closely. Now that he examined her form in detail, he automatically categorized it as the height of beauty.

He resembled a newly hatched duckling focusing entirely on its mother. This habit explained why she always appeared most beautiful in his eyes; she was the only person he ever truly observed.

[Roserikta] "Don't get too attached to this appearance. My body will return to normal after I give birth."

[Kalart] "Then I will admire your feet all over again at that time."

He pressed a swift kiss against her short toes and grabbed her other foot.

[Kalart] "My eyes will never grow tired of your form."

His words carried a profound promise: he would love her every single day as if it were the first time.

A deep, warm sensation rushed through her entire body. Roserikta recognized the truth. Everything she had ever desired existed right here, completely held within his grasp.

[Roserikta] "Your Highness."

[Kalart] "Yes?"

She met his gaze and flashed a bright smile. Kalart permanently etched her expression into his memory, viewing it as the most beautiful sight in the world.

[Roserikta] "Please marry me."

Kneeling at her feet while massaging her round toes, Kalart gave a firm nod. He looked like a man who had finally received the one thing he had desired his entire life.

[Kalart] "With absolute pleasure."

Even without pink clouds or rivers lined with diamonds, this place was beautiful.

One month later, the Crown Prince of the Kriye Empire married.

Due to the bride's round, swollen belly, rumors claimed the wedding ceremony remained chaotic from start to finish. The priest's blessing, the prayers offered to the gods, and the vows all concluded in a frantic rush under the Crown Prince's fierce threats to speed things up.

Surprisingly, the bride wore two wedding rings. One featured the famous blue diamond that had sparked countless rumors before the wedding, while the other possessed a unique design set with brilliant blue sapphires and rich red rubies side by side.

Nevertheless, those who witnessed the ceremony agreed unanimously that they had never seen such a happy, radiant wedding.

The celebration lasted until midnight beneath an exceptionally large, round moon, leaving a lasting impression that people discussed for a long time, describing it as a scene straight out of a fairy tale.
